Houston takes two of three against Texas

Astros blank Rangers in final game

The Texas Rangers were dismantled yesterday by Houston All Star Starter Dallas Keuchel who spun a fantastic 13 strikes over seven innings (2 hits) and now leading the American League with wins.

“That was one of those special performances,” Keuchel said. “I was just trying to ride it and the offense did a heck of a job, so it made my life a lot easier.”

”He utilized the strike zone and we didn’t make adjustments,” Texas manager Jeff Banister said. ”It looked like our approach got a little too big at times … when you get behind a pitcher like that it’s tough to get anything going against him.”

For the Rangers, regrouping seems to be their only alternative as they have won only two of their last six games.  They open a series on the road against the Colorado Rockies tonight.  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so be sure to get yours today!

Rangers Bats Silent against Athletics

The Texas Rangers may have won yesterday against the Athletics but today is a different matter.  Oakland gifted a goose egg to the Rangers while 1st baseman made a huge splash in his Major League debut driving in four runs.  Pitcher Scott Kazmir held the Rangers in check with a masterful 10-strikeouts and one hit over seven innings.

“That’s a great way to start when you’re getting in your first big league game and you’re able to do that,” said A’s manager Bob Melvin. “Really allows you to relax a bit and feel like you belong.”

The Rangers have little time to dwell as thy face the Athletics in the closer game this afternoon before hosting the Astro’s for a three game stretch.  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so be sure to get yours today!

Rangers even up on Red Sox

The Texas Rangers follow up a victory in the 2nd of a three game stand against the defending champion Boston Red Sox today at 3 pm.  Last night, the Rangers pounded out a 10-7 win over the Sox who took game one 1-5 on Monday.

Pitcher Martin Perez collected his first victory after going 6 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, three walks and three strikeouts.  The most impressive thing was that he was able to ground five double plays, the second most behind Matt Harrison.

“A pitcher’s best friend and he was able to use it tonight,” Rangers manager Ron Washington said of the double plays. “You don’t want it to happen all the time like that, but he was able to take advantage of it tonight. He really threw the ball well.”

The Rangers come back home to face the Houston Astros in a three game home stand.  Great seats and tickets are still available so get yours now!

Rangers banking on Fielder this season

Newly signed Prince Fielder is looking to make an impact for the Texas Rangers and Manager Ron Washington is banking on Fielder this season so much so that he now has Fielder slotted to bat third in the rotation this season.

Rangers management are hoping that the numbers Fielder put up last season (career lows in home runs and slugging percentage) were a fluke and that with him in a new environment, will thrive in the Rangers organization.  They are betting 7-years at $20 million a year on it.

The Rangers open the regular season at home against the Philadelphia Phillies. Great tickets and seats are still available.  Be sure to get yours now!

Washington without contract one month before Spring Training

The way things currently stand with the Texas Rangers of the American League West, Manager Ron Washington does not have a contract extending past 2014 and, Washington does not seem to be bothered by that fact.

“I’m not worried about that,” Washington said after working at a week-long winter camp at Rangers Ballpark. “That will take care of itself.”

In other Rangers news, the franchise came to terms with LHP Rafael Perez on a minor league contract with a spot at Spring Training.  Perez underwent shoulder surgery in 2012 and has not played in the majors since.

The Rangers open the season against the Philadelphia Phillies on March 31st and Spring Training kicks off February 27th. Great tickets and seats are still available for both.
