After the Boston Red Sox (45-38 AL East) pummeled the Texas Rangers (53-32, 1st AL West) 12-5 on the 4th of July, the Rangers bounced back last night for a 7-2 win after an explosive ninth inning and look to take the series tonight before heading back home for a rematch against the Minnesota Twins. The Rangers snapped a three game losing streak.
“It was good to have a win tonight,” Robinson Chirinos said. “We haven’t played well the past few days, but we did tonight. We pitched good and hit. A team win … everybody pulled a little bit to win the game.”
In the rubber match, the Rangers will send out SP Martin Perez (7-4, 3.39 ERA) who will go up against Steven Wright (9-5, 2.42 ERA). Perez last played against the Twins on Wednesday, giving up two runs over seven innings and is 6-0 in his last eight starts.
